iPhone 4S
The great day for all the Apple iPhone fans finally have come – the next generation of iPhone 4S have been officially announced and oh boy, what a disappointment it is. First of all, we all expected the brand new phone design secretly called iPhone 5 but all we got is… another facelift model – something in between. So, the only two notable changes are – new dual core chip (produced by Samsung) and promises of longer batter life. There is no new bigger brighter screen, no detachable battery and even no 4G capabilities. Though, Apple promises HSDPA download capabilities which is nothing new – this technology have been in use in Europe for past couple of years and is a step in between 3G and 4G speeds. So, for all those 4G phones fans, this will be a big disappointment as well for those who all expected bigger brighter screen which is, in our humble opinion, long time overdue.
We can only guess and speculate why such a model was released. Our first guess is that the long lawsuits between screen manufacturer Samsung and Apple could have caused the decision to make a 4S model as is instead of releasing next generation of phone. Another speculation is that with all the patches and changes in iPhone operating system current CPU is not good enough for new upcoming iOS5 release which will make current iPhone just crawl. So, this is something of a good news bad news situation – users will get faster system with new CPU but as soon as new operating system is released, models preceding iPhone 4S will be just too slow to conveniently operate slowly making users mad and wanting for new upgrade. We have noticed that is has been long time Apple strategy – make minor tweak in software as soon as new product is out thus making its predecessor too slow for a convenient and comfortable operation causing millions of users to upgrade to newer hardware – in our opinion, not too good way of doing business. At the moment current iPhone users can expect to be forced into upgrades with next iOS5 release and with that, it will make brand new shiny iPhone 4S be as fast as it is at the moment.
While Apple have announced many great sounding improvements like two built in antennas to improve call quality as if stating that it needed improvement with smart switch capabilities and some minor tweaks like better sensors and one major one in the camera – it is capable of 8Mpx pictures and full HD video – all this is nothing new and sounds like technology and functions other phones had by the end of the 2010 making this so called new iPhone 4S like a poor excuse to a current loyal users who are watching as the Android world evolves with great many 4G phones like Samsung Galaxy S2 and great many HTC and Motorola phones! In my personal opinion, the lamest improvement was… the speed of taking pictures and compared to a past year model – Droid Bionic. It really does feel like this phone is released just because Apple had to do something and this something is a very weak step making more and more people thing that Android phones is the way to go!
